
To: All Affiliated Members Attached please find that the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Developmentās latest National Agro-meteorological Committee (NAC) Advisory on the 2024 winter season & Statement from Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (CCDRR) (2 August 2024). The NAC Advisory and CCDRR statement anticipates below normal rainfall with above normal temperatures over South Africa and provides useful climatic information with respect to:Current conditionsConditions in provinces during June/JulyAgricultural MarketsSADC RegionMonthly Climate OutlookSuggested Strategies It is recommended that the climate advisory should be disseminated widely. Users are advised to be on the look-out and act on the daily extreme weather warnings as well as the monthly advisory. Information sharing groups are encouraged especially among farming communities for sustainable development. In general,effective communication among all stakeholders in the sector will enhance effective implementation of risk reduction measures/early warning services.
