AgriSA Newsletter October 2024

From the CEO’s desk

Agriculture’s evolving vision has led to the Agriculture and Agro-processing Master Plan (AAMP), aiming for a globally competitive, inclusive sector that uplifts rural economies and boosts employment. Yet, achieving this requires more than policies—it demands collaboration, adaptability, and new approaches to biosecurity, data-sharing, and community engagement. Moving forward, let’s reimagine leadership in agriculture to unlock its potential.

Sectoral emission targets on the cards for agriculture

Electricity burden stressed

AgriSA responds to Eskom’s MYPD6 application, advocating for fair and sustainable tariffs. Eskom’s proposal for significant tariff increases poses substantial financial risks to the agricultural industry and, by extension, to food security and economic stability in the country.
