The NCOP has scheduled two debates this week.
Sponsoring debates allows MPs to raise awareness about important issues, sparking national discussions and educating the public.
On Tuesday, delegates will debate how to revitalise the clothing and textile industries.
On the following day, the focus will be on the negative impact of SOE bailouts on other frontline government departments such as education, health, and police.
Both sittings will also consider motions, committee reports and legislation.
The Deputy President will be in the spotlight during his question-and-answer session on Thursday. He will respond to questions about service delivery challenges, extortion of the township economy and the land reform process.

Elsewhere, the National Assembly has arranged a constituency week and no sittings are scheduled.
Constituency work is supposed to ensure that elected representatives are visible, responsive, and accountable to citizens on the ground outside of election campaign periods. Through regular outreach and engagement with citizens, elected officials can build trust in the legislature. Ideally, MPs are expected to conduct work in their constituencies and forward inputs to the committee system, thereby linking matters to committee oversight processes. Such matters could then be included in, or form part of, recommendations submitted for adoption by the relevant House during plenary sessions.
In practice, constituency engagement is unstructured, uneven, underutilised, and not deeply embedded in the public’s mind.
Away from Parliament, the NCOP Chairperson will lead a multiparty parliamentary delegation to the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference, which will take place from 3 to 8 November 2024 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
In addition, the Chief Whip of the largest party in the NA – the African National Congress – will lead a multiparty parliament delegation to the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Sixth Parliament of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), which will run from 4 to 15 November 2024 at the PAP headquarters in Midrand, Johannesburg.
